The Northwest Cycling Club junior development team has brought to Houston’s youth the opportunity to participate in the sport of cycling at all levels and all disciplines. We have flourished into a dynamic program of active young riders ranging in ages from 10 years old to 18 years. Our program is offered to all youth regardless of their ability and financial resources. Our only requirement is that they come with willingness to learn and grow in a sport designed as a life long activity.
We are very proud of the accomplishments of our riders not only from their competitive successes but also from their level of participation in helping with group rides, charity rides and variety of other cycling events. Locally our riders proudly wear State championship jerseys in several disciplines but their successes are not limited to the Texas border. Over the last several years, the team has brought home National Jr. Road titles, National Jr. Criterium title, three National Track titles and multitude of top placing medals and finishes at national events.
However, the triumphs of this young team are not limited to cycling. Many of our members may add academics, musical achievements to their resumes in addition to being involved in their communities through volunteering to host of charity, school and religious events.
Our group of licensed USA Cycling and a cycling Olympian are dedicated to the development of each individual child. Each brings to the program years of training and cycling experience enabling them to adapt to the individual needs and goals of our young riders whether they are just beginning or the aspiring elite athlete.
The goal of Northwest Cycling Club is to grow and enrich the lives of all youth through physical fitness, friends, discipline and self-esteem. By providing them with these opportunities, we believe they are developing a lasting foundation that transcends a lifetime of health and well being.
